What steps will reproduce the problem?
(1) Connect a removable hard drive to Chromebook.
(2) Open Files app
(3) Start formatting by selecting a context menu shown in the left pane.

What is the expected output? / What do you see instead?
A notification saying "The formatting can take a couple of seconds. Please wait." is shown, but disappears in a few seconds.
And the message after a few seconds disappears.  If I then pull the plug on the drive, it will complain that it hadn't finished formatting.

There needs to be a stronger visual indication that something is happening.
