||||
Issue descriptionThis is the right-click (or long-press) context menu for videos. Similar to "Save Image".

The video on this site, for example, provide a "save video" context menu option that appears to do nothing on stable (52.0.2743.98): http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x4oat30_the-backyardigans-synchronized-diving-celebrate-the-world-of-sport_kids It seems there's a bug generally with context menu option. Once we work that out, we can consider specialization for Data Saver. Reassigning to investigate.

Dailymotion uses MSE. I think the fix is to disable the "Save Video" context menu when the <video>'s src is not a URL.

Ben, I think your issue is a separate bug. I filed crbug.com/637010 and I'm reassigning this to kundaji@.

Yeah, saving MSE videos is disabled on desktop -- I'm not sure why it didn't carry over with Spitzer, but it should.

Chrome downloads the original image because webp has very poor support. However, I am able to play webm videos using the default Android player. Discussed offline with dalecurtis@, and webp is supported by default video player on Android. So for video, there is no reason to download the original file.

I meant *webm* is supported by default video player on Android. |
