Since you didn't mention minimizing an application in your original repro steps, can you clarify when the application being shared should be minimized to help us reproduce this bug?

Un-duplicating since I just realized that this is specific to Hangouts, while bug 601321 is related to another, possibly locally developed application. This bug may still end up being a duplicate, but I'd like to at least get answers to my Hangout related questions in #3 first.
