Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/49.0.2623.110 Safari/537.36 Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. Browse to chrome://downloads/ What is the expected behavior? Page loads promptly What went wrong? Page loads slowly (at least 500 ms), first grey background, then slate background, finally it shows downloads Given browser doesn't need internet to show page, I don't understand why it's slow. Did this work before? N/A Chrome version: 49.0.2623.110 Channel: stable OS Version: 6.1 (Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 R2) Flash Version: Shockwave Flash 21.0 r0

hey Matt, would you mind attaching a timeline trace? check: [x] JS Profile, [X] Screenshots and reload chrome://downloads, then right click on the graph and choose "Save timeline data..." Also, is the new design slower than the old one? you should be able to compare with --disable-md-downloads (from command line or about:flags).

Sure. It's is snappy on my home computer, but I'll try again at work next week.

I am unable to load the chrome://downloads page before I get a "Page Unresponsive" dialog. This occurs on Mac and Windows, v52 and v53. The Windows PC has hundreds of files in Chrome's Downloads folder. My Mac has about 50 files. Removing files from the Downloads folder doesn't help. I still get the "Page Unresponsive" dialog when I try to open the Downloads folder in Chrome, after a delay of some minutes. Sometimes if I click Wait, the page will eventually become responsive again, but the file listing is incomplete. I'm happy to assist with testing this issue in any way I can.

Sorry, I just saw your request for a timeline today. I am attempting to capture one, with JS Profile and Screenshots selected. There's a status dialog with a filled-in status bar, and the Javascript console seems to be hung. This is on my Mac. I'll try the same on Windows this evening.
