@font-face is not applied in a background tab |
||||||||||||||||||||||
Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/49.0.2623.110 Safari/537.36 Example URL: http://www.efobus.com/ Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. Middle click on the URL above. 2. Wait a few seconds for that new background tab to load. 3. Go to that new background tab. What is the expected behavior? 1. A three-instructed-lines button at the far left of the second top bar. 2. A no-entrance sign to the right of "תחנה 21510 - תחנת רכבת מרכז - 7 מ'". What went wrong? 1. The Hebrew character instead of a three-instructed-lines button at the far left of the second top bar. 2. A Chinese character instead of a no-entrance sign to the right of "תחנה 21510 - תחנת רכבת מרכז - 7 מ'". Does it occur on multiple sites: N/A Is it a problem with a plugin? No Did this work before? N/A Does this work in other browsers? Yes Chrome version: 49.0.2623.110 Channel: stable OS Version: 6.1 (Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 R2) Flash Version: Shockwave Flash 21.0 r0 If you resize the page (resize the window, for example), @font-face will suddenly be applied. If middle clicking on a link does not work, add the URL to your bookmark bar and middle click on that.

Interesting. Actually @font-face seems to be partially applied -- the pin icon and vertical dots at the left side are also fontawesome icons. I could not reproduce this in - 49.0.2623.110 (Official Build) m (32-bit) and - 51.0.2693.2 (Official Build) canary (32-bit) on Windwos7 SP1. Phistuck, does this happen in other sites too, or is this specific to www.efobus.com?

So far, I only observed this with www.efobus.com. Perhaps my configuration have something to do with it? I have disabled ClearType and smooth font edges on my Windows 7 machine.

Have you tried waiting longer before you switch to that new background tab? Wait about ten seconds. It generally shows the loading animation twice, so make sure you switch to it after the second loading animation. Also, I think the bookmark method is crucial. Probably because when you middle click on a link, it shares the same renderer, which already have the font stack completely initialized to something. Have you tried bookmarking it and middle clicking on the bookmark?

Tried both in-page link and bookmark bar, incognito, waited >10 seconds, but still no luck. Could you try changing your ClearType and smoothing settings and see if this still occurs?

Totally and consistently reproducible with and without ClearType and font smoothing.
