Issue descriptionVersion: 51.0.2692.0 (Official Build) dev (64-bit) OS: Chrome Platform: 8120.0.0 (Official Build) dev-channel Peppy, Daisy What steps will reproduce the problem? (1)Sign in to user>> download some images>> open it in gallery>> observe the below thumbnail strip in Gallery.app Expected: Images should load immediately on the thumbnail strip Actual: Instead Images is not loading immediately on the thumbnail strip (Refer screenshot) This is a Regression issues as issue is not seen in 49.0.2623.95/7834.60.0 beta-channel Daisy Issue is not applicable to Linux and Windows Note: Issue is seen on opening multiple images via thumbnail view in Galley.app i.e Unwanted transition is seen (Refer screen cast)

Is this an issue that you see that thumbnail images are loaded slightly slower than before?

@Yawano: Yes exactly, the thumbnail images are loading a bit slower than earlier they used to be (Please refer the below thumbnail strip in screenshot).

Thank you for the feedback! @fukino: This might be caused because we changed Gallery not to load images in parallel. (https://crrev.com/1751423002) WDYT?

Yes. To fix issue 577345, we changed the loading priority as follows. - Show the selected image as soon as possible. - After the selected image is shown, load thubmnails in thumbnail strip and show them as they are loaded. As a side effect, users can see blank thumbnail in the thumbnail strip, but it is intended since we assume it is better than before. (Before, it took some time to see the selected image, especially in slow devices) |
