I don't remember see this issue before but don't know since when it starts to regress.It must related to H/W decoding. I don't see it repro on webm videos

What steps will reproduce the problem?
(1) navigate to http://vjs.zencdn.net/v/oceans.mp4
(2) pause video after a while of playback
(3) switch to another tab for a while
(4) switch back

What is the expected output?
video is paused, webpage rendering is normal

What do you see instead?
video is pused, the video area is blank white
