What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Set your Program Files folder in D: through regedit / environment variables
2. Install Chrome
What is the expected result?
Chrome should install in D.
The shortcut should point to D.
What happens instead of that?
Chrome installs in C.
The shortcut created on install is very weird (and does not work).
The target is in D: while the "start in" points to C: (see screenshot)

Changing the location of Program Files via registry/env is explicitly not supported by Microsoft (see https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/933700). I don't think we're going to invest in trying to make this work since it is prone to breakage due to forces outside of our control. +gab@, who knows shortcuts more than I in case he thinks it's worth a shot. |
