Issue descriptionChrome Version : Google Chrome 49.0.2623.75 (Official Build) (64-bit) URLs (if applicable) : https://www.chromium.org/user-experience/keyboard-access Other browsers tested: Add OK or FAIL, along with the version, after other browsers where you have tested this issue: Safari: Untested Firefox 44.0.2: Partial IE: Untested What steps will reproduce the problem? (1) Navigate to https://www.chromium.org/user-experience/keyboard-access (2) Attempt to select a link using the keyboard. (Pick a link on the page, and hit tab until it is selected.) What is the expected result? As you hit tab, subsequent links should be selected and you should be able to tell which one you are on. What happens instead? There is no indication as to which link is currently selected. Please provide any additional information below. The same problem applies to a lot of other pages on chromium.org, but not all. For example, bugs.chromium.org seems fine.

This isn't a navigation bug. It's possibly an accessibility bug, but it seems more likely to be on the Sites page than in Chrome. Note that I do see tab traversal of links in Chrome on this page, but not on the Sites pages like the one in the repro steps. I don't see tab traversal of links on either page in Safari or Firefox, though, so I'm not sure what's expected. Dominic?

Hi abodenha@, the site uses CSS that turns off outlines for all elements, which means keyboard users cannot see the :focus. Can we remove that outline: 0 rule? Apologies if you aren't the right person. Maybe you know who is?

No clue who the right person is off the top of my head. I'll look into it when I get a chance.

It looks like this problem actually affects all of chromium.org. If you're trying to tab navigate through any page there there's no visual indication of where the focus is. Sounds like that's also confusing screen readers. I created a test page in sites and wasn't able to repro there, so it's not all of sites. It's not at all clear where the outline:none rule is coming from. I see it in the page source, but it isn't something I see editable in the page content I'm bumping up priority and setting this to untriaged. I'm hoping people responsible for the Infra>Documentation component will see it and have ideas. |
