[FR] "Open bookmark(s) as $profile" option. |
|||
Issue descriptionI love the "Open link as $profile" option from the browser page contexual menu. It would be great to also have this for bookmarks/bookmark folders. Scenario: I may have a number of bookmarks on one profile, but want to interact with them using a different profile, which has a different set of signed in accounts (commonly social media or crbug for me). Currently, I open all of the links in the current profile, then manually copy the URLs over to the other profile. I've attached screenshots of a couple suggested contextual menus to add this in. Thanks!

Yeah, let's wait to see how the "Open link as..." feature plays out. If use increases, we can think about this use case too. FWIW, intuitively, I think opening links from bookmarks in another profile should be slightly less useful than opening random links in another profile. Usually you'd just bookmark the page in the relevant profile (with the right set of signed in accounts), right?

I believe that a "Move this tab to {profile}" would be a more compelling option to general adoption.
In my use case, a profile is a major theme (webdev stuff, work stuff ...) and sometimes I found some content that fits better in another profile. The problem is I cant't figure this out *before* opening the link and reading the page - so, the "open link as" feature doesn't help me and I always have to "move" (reopen...) that tab to another profile by copying and pasting the URL or dragging the URL icon to another profile window.
Tks!

Mac triage: assigning back to ewald@ Since "open link as profile" appears to still be in Chrome (and I use it daily!), we should maybe reconsider whether to do this bug or not.

Over to Sabine, as future-facing identity-related work :) |
