I went to http://rp.pl and used control click to open 4 tabs. What is the expected result? 4 usable tabs opened. What happens instead? Two of the tabs do not have scrollbars, using mouse wheel/space/arrow keys doesn't scroll the page even though there is more content: https://screenshot.googleplex.com/7P1Lq4z6zgQ Refreshing the page did solve the issue.

It is definitely not deterministic. It happened under Goobuntu, not Windows.

Happened again on Chrome 49.0.2623.108 (64-bit) on Goobuntu. I do not have screen recording, I have the tab open if it helps. If I resize the page I can see more content, there is just no scrollbar. There are some errors on the console: https://screenshot.googleplex.com/mhnMQFe5hj0 no idea if they are related.

Unable to repro this issue on Ubuntu Trusty (14.04) for Google Chrome Stable Version - 49.0.2623.110 Screen-recording is attached in the comment #3 @rkj: Could you please re-test the same on a clean profile [chrome://settings -> Add Person] and let us know your observations. Thank you.

I am not surprised you are unable to repro - it doesn't happen every time, it happens rarely, so no I cannot reproduce on the same person doing the same thing just afterwards. I bet I will not be able to reproduce on a clean profile either.

@rkj: Can we go ahead and close this issue if it is not reproducible ?

Sure, if you are not interested in bugs that happen only sometimes, feel free to close.

Tried this on a new person. Got shockwafe flash crashing, maybe it's related. Also annoyingly for most of the tabs they seem loaded (no longer spinner), but the page is blank: https://screenshot.googleplex.com/LZ45x5mWcfR and loads only after a few seconds (on my beefy workstation with 64GB of RAM, with 29GB free right now).

rkj@, a few questions: Is this still happening in newer versions (M50/51)? When you say you open 4 tabs, is it of the original page http://rp.pl or random links on that page? Have you seen this just on that page or are there others?

Also, it doesn't look like there's any confidential info here so I'll remove RVG

rkj@ can you respond to the comments in #14?

Yes, the original page is http://rp.pl, then I middle click on few links on that page, and when I go to the new tabs, some of them, sometimes do not have the scrollbar. Haven't gone there in a while, so haven't happened yet in M50. I just went there and opened few links. What looked funny is that when I go to the tab, the scrollbar is not there at first, and appears after short blink, then gets progressively smaller (when the page content is rendered?) during the first half a second or so.

rkj@ could this be the delay that the page content is loading? So at first there is no scrollbar as you said. They the content gets bigger and bigger and scrollbar gets smaller?

It is hard to reproduce, as refresh always produces correct results. The problems occurs rarely - I see it once every few days - and I probably open hundreds links a day. It is definitely not a problem with loading - the page has finished loading, any waiting doesnt help. For the first time I did notice it after I read first page of text and tried to scroll down.

I never happened on my corp profile, it did happen to me at home, at the same synced user, so it may be something with extension I do have.

Unfortunately, without some kind of more reliable repro this isn't very actionable. I'll leave this open and unrestricted for another week or two in case more reports come in or if you see this in M50+. Otherwise I think we'll have to close it.

Unfortunately no reproduction steps have been provided. If the issue re-occurs and you have figured out the reproduction steps please comment on this issue or open a new one and we will be happy to look at it. |
