Tab stroke color invisible on dark themes

Project Member Reported by borisv@chromium.org, Mar 16 2016

Issue description

Version:51.0.2680.0
OS: Mac OS X 10.11.3

What steps will reproduce the problem?
(1) Open the Canary version 51.0.2680.0
(2) Create at least two tabs
(3) Observe the edges of the tabs; observe the profile name

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I expect smooth tab edges, but instead I see heavily pixelized one. Additional detail that may not be due to the material design is that the Chrome profile name cannot be read (black letters on dark grey background).
My resolution is 2560x1600 and I have 30" monitor.

Is MaterialDesign enabled in chrome://flags? I am asking, because I see the "old" Chrome Menu Icon in the third screenshot.

MaterialDesign has to be turned on in chrome://flags.

Comment 3 by borisv@chromium.org, Mar 16 2016

Good point. The flag was set to "Default". I changed it and indeed the pixelation is less pronounced, however there are other problems:
1. The profile name is still equally hard to read
2. As the active tab is in the same color of the background, "holes" are created with interrupted lines.
I am not sure if #2 is by design or not. #1 seems to be quite strange.

Re: the tab edge not being visible, what theme are you using?

Summary: Tab stroke color invisible on dark themes (was: UI Problems with the new material design scheme)
For dark themes (e.g. https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/ant-man-fvd/oggfaliahigghdmgjdjbdopepiejlgib?utm_source=chrome-ntp-icon ) the tab stroke color is invisible because it's a transparent black.
shrike@, FYI this was recently fixed for views ( issue 585470 ) - maybe taking a look at Peter's solution could be useful.
