Issue descriptionChrome Version : 48.0.2564.116 (Official Build) m (32-bit) What steps will reproduce the problem? (1) type a word in the address bar. Chrome fills the rest with some random suggestion (2) type backspace to delete the suggestion (3) press the space bar: Chrome shows the exact same suggestion What is the expected result? No autocomplete from the address bar, or at the very least understand that when the users deletes the suggestion, it was a bad one. What happens instead? Chrome makes the wrong suggestion twice, forcing the user to read it and remove it twice. Please put an option to disable inline autocomplete from the address bar, it's very irritating.

I don't know why Chrome hadn't updated, but now I'm on the latest stable 49.0.2623.87. The problem is still present, how can I provide a screencast? You couldn't reproduce the issue, does that mean that when you delete a suggestion it doesn't appear anymore?

@emmanuel.parfond -- Thank You for the quick reply. When i delete a suggestion nothing appears in the suggestion. The suggestions appear only when any text is entered. Use a screen recorder to record the issue and attach the recording in the issue. Thank You.

Here it is. It happens twice in this video: I type "ensoleillement", then backspace to delete the suggestion, then press space, and the exact same suggestions pops back. I then type "heure", then again backspace to remove the suggestion, and when I press space again the suggestion is back.

Hi emmanuel, I'm sorry none of the other chromium folks understood the issue. This is a known issue, filed under bug 334300. We want the omnibox to learn, at least during the course of a single interaction, that a particular suggestion is not wanted. We just haven't had time to fix it. Please feel free to star the bug to get notified if/when we do something about it. Thanks for reporting! --mark

I'm sure we'll be updated any day now on this 6 year old issue. :(

Um, (a) this was filed less than a year ago and (b) it's been resolved as a dupe and wouldn't be seeing further comment regardless. |
