Regression: In Incognito Mode the Omnibox Dropdown for history and bookmarks appears not before the second typed letter |
||||||||||||||||||||
Issue descriptionVersion: 49.0.2623.87 OS: Windows 7 What steps will reproduce the problem? (1) open a normal window (2) safe google.com as a bookmark (3) visit google.com (4) open an Incognito window (5) type g into the Omnibox What is the expected output? What do you see instead? I expect that the Omnibox Dropdown appears and that google.com is autocompleted in the Omnibox. Only when I type the second letter (go) into the Omnibox the Dropdown appears and the autocompletion works for history and bookmarks. Please use labels and text to provide additional information. This seems to be a regression on Windows. Also in Canary. It works fine on Mac. If you need more information, please let me know.

No, this is a older (and only) profile that I am using since the first Chrome installation on my PC at work. Regarding your second question: I "typed google.com in the omnibox and hit enter". The confusing thing is that it also happens with a fresh installation of Canary. Normally in Incognito mode, the Dropdown with one line of the search term (which you are typing in the Omnibox) appears even if there is no history or bookmarks saved. This Dropdown with one line of the search term appears also not before the second letter.

So, when you type one character and wait, you get no dropdown at all? That would be bizarre. I can't reproduce that on my Canary build at home when I clear all browsing data (I didn't try making a new profile) and switch to incognito; typing "g" gets me a single-row dropdown with a search for "g".

"So, when you type one character and wait, you get no dropdown at all?" -> Yes, that was the case. May be I should try to wait a little more longer. Unfortunately I have no Windows PC at home, so I can not try it at the moment. I'll try it at work on Monday again or on a PC from friends and keep you informed. Thanks.

Yeah, I would wait a bit. If you still see nothing, try hitting enter and seeing what, if anything, happens.

Okay, now I know the reason for the issue. This issue happens only, when you are using the Windows System Basic or Classic Theme. With the System Aero Theme everything works fine. ssamanoori@. Please try it again with the System Basic or Classic Theme. Thanks in advance. Mehmet
