Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; CrOS x86_64 7647.84.0) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/48.0.2564.116 Safari/537.36 Platform: 7647.84.0 (Official Build) stable-channel falco Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. try switching layouts RU<->US in various web pages 2. 3. What is the expected behavior? the layout is consistently switched back and forth by a standard ALT-SHIFT key combination used on every PC in the world (except for macs where it is just SUPER+SPACE) What went wrong? sometimes it stops changing layout in the app, need to switch to another window to change layout. Also, a suspicious message shows up suggesting that I should use an insanely weird combination of "CTRL + SHIFT + SPACE" to switch the layout which is a UX nonsense Did this work before? N/A Chrome version: 48.0.2564.116 Channel: n/a OS Version: 7647.84.0 Flash Version: Shockwave Flash 20.0 r0 unreliable layout switching is an OS bug. Weird switch combination suggested is an UX bug.

Dear Sirs, I do strongly believe that changing the key combination for layout switching will get negative reception by general users, let alone it is much harder to press the new one for an experienced typist. Well-thought keyboard layout has always been a strong side of chromebooks. I hope you have thought it thoroughly. As for the key shortcuts reliability - the same problem applies to ALT-TAB which sometimes stops working too (or misses several presses) for example, in a browser window full-screen press CTRL-L and ALT-TAB immediately - it will not work. In some cases, when the address bar is always in focus, it is entirely impossible to do a ALT-TAB. I am not sure whether it is the same bug though

I completely agree with deprecating alt-shift. However, unlike before with this change the keyboard switch now also triggers with this combination when I try to write ŭ (shift+altgr+9,u) which is really annoying. I cannot wait for the old combination to be switched off or at least have a switch to turn it off, now I get annoyed over and over again because of this.

The deprecated shortcut "Alt+Shift" to switch keyboard layouts has been disabled in the upcoming M-53. "Ctrl+Shift+Space" should be used from now on. commit 25174475a4ad63208a3dfc0755b4ced719ac2dfd [log] [tgz] author afakhry <afakhry@chromium.org> Thu Jun 16 20:14:43 2016 committer Commit bot <commit-bot@chromium.org> Thu Jun 16 20:16:29 2016 tree c137aed3ae8187a2f8bb20d68f419d922c31351e parent 5e31e870bc40f674c3f9bc074f43e5ddd63e3154 [diff] Disable the deprecated Alt+Shift for NEXT_IME Due to its many conflicts, we decided to remove it for M-53. We will keep the notification so as not to confuse users.
