Reported by mdwims...@gmail.com, Mar 9 2016

Issue description

THIS TEMPLATE IS FOR FILING BUGS ON THE ANDROID SYSTEM WEBVIEW. GENERAL WEB
BUGS SHOULD BE FILED USING A DIFFERENT TEMPLATE!

Device name:SM-T537V
Android version:5.1.1
WebView version (from system settings -> Apps -> Android System WebView):49.0.2623.91
Application:Divide PIM
Application version:2.1.8-T7.5.1.0.5-38

URLs (if applicable):

Steps to reproduce:
(1)open e-mail
(2)
(3)

Expected result:
Email Should Show

Actual result:
displays whit screen with spinning circle.

Additions Info:
We have noticed an issue that seems to be tied to version 48+, Verizon Phones, running Divide PIM from MobileIron, when opening an e-mail the mail will load but not render, its intermittent on each load of the e-mail, it will display a white screen with a spinning wheel, but if there is a link on the email you can click it while its on this screen. I just loaded the latest release and the problem still exists.

Is it this app from the play store? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.work.pim&hl=en

Do you remember the first version of webview where this broke? 48.something?

This might be hard for us to test since this app looks to need explicit server side support.

Comment 2 by mdwims...@gmail.com, Mar 10 2016

its the same general build, but the enterprise verison from MobileIron.
https://www.mobileiron.com/en/products/product-overview/pim
http://www.divide.com/
It was purchased by google but re branded for MobileIron.

The application was working up to about a month ago, we were just recently able to determine the version we know is not working for us is 48.0.2564.106
If I down grade to the lowest Version 43.0.2357.121, we know this one works.
I can test all released versions if you have a list and let you know exactly when it breaks for us.

I understand the testing issues from your side, it does require back-end server support to work. But I can do some general testing and pull logs if it will help.

Comment 3 by mdwims...@gmail.com, Mar 10 2016

The issue started between:
47.0.2526.100 (252610050)
and
48.0.2564.71 (256407150)

Is this issue device specific? Or is the app device specific?

Comment 5 by mdwims...@gmail.com, Mar 10 2016

From what we are able to tell so far, its Verizon Phones, LG/Samsung/Motorola brands running at least Android 5.1, and using Divide PIM. It seems to be a combination of these three things.

I wanted to do a quick update showing what the issue is we are seeing.
The last part of the video I was showing that the screen can be manipulated and links are accessible even though I cannot see it.

The CL
https://codereview.chromium.org/1432083004

which is the root reason for another bug ( crbug.com/594001 ) landed in the time frame you mentioned.
There is a CL uploaded here for review:
https://codereview.chromium.org/1779363004/

Don't know how your code works, so can't tell if it is really the same. Also don't know why it is devie specific.

Comment 9 by mdwims...@gmail.com, Mar 14 2016

Thanks, im forwaring this to the MobileIron and Verizon DEV teams.

Comment 10 by boliu@chromium.org, Mar 17 2016

Does the beta released yesterday (50.0.2661.35) fix this?
So far so good, going to get a few more devices loaded up with the update.

Comment 12 by boliu@chromium.org, Mar 17 2016

Ok, that's good. We are re-spinning a m49 build some time next week that should also contain this fix.
Status: Fixed (was: Unconfirmed)
M49 with fix should be rolled out to 100% now.
