Chrome release blog history won't expand

Reported by larrylac...@yahoo.com, Mar 5 2016

Issue description

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.3; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/49.0.2623.75 Safari/537.36

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Go: http://googlechromereleases.blogspot.com/ -get the release blog
2. In the right hand panel, expand 'Archive'

What is the expected behavior?
Archive years and months should expand to a list.

In the main body, after each release announcement, the timestamp of the announcement is missing.

What went wrong?
The release history lists under year and month don't display. Announcement timestamps not displayed.

Did this work before? N/A

Chrome version: 49.0.2623.75 Channel: stable
OS Version: 6.3
Flash Version: Shockwave Flash 20.0 r0

This is not a Chrome bug. It's a bug in the release blog.
It was working until mid Feb 2016.
Expansion also fails in Internet Explorer, Chrome 50.0.2661.11, 48.0.2564.116, for saved bookmarks to old release announcements..

This seems related to the customized blog template.

Dru, can you make sure this is handled? Thank you.

+some folks who work on the blog.

@David, Katie - can either of you point me to the right person to talk to about this?

Once we figure out next steps, let's close this bug and track separately since this isn't a bug in Chromium.

I think you have the wrong David.
FWIW: other blogspot blogs with Archive lists still work OK. E.g. the officialandroid archive expands correctly.

Bug 569132 - is Chrome Help Forum bug: Attachments leave an about:blank tab after downloading. Still a problem today (Chrome 50..12, downloading a .zip file). Needs to be addressed by the Google Chrome support team - not a Chromium/Chrome bug.

I've filed an internal Google bug with the blogger team to get this fixed. Thanks for reporting!

@dk: Looks like it's been fixed/improved (as of today).
There is now a nice tight grid 4x3 of months/year, was a horizontal list.
The month tags now work and expand in the main panel,
still no monthly index list in the right archive panel.
Unfortunately, the page is now much slower to load: the main panel text loads then spends 80% of the page load time building the Archive panel.

The main panel font size was also increased, making it less compact;
some announcements still use the old smaller font size - which is inconsistent e.g. (http://googlechromereleases.blogspot.com/2016_01_01_archive.html)

The timestamps on the individual announcements are still omitted.
I found these useful in trying to track how quickly updates reached me.

If there is a public review team for this internal work, I'd be willing to participate. I spend a lot of my time working problems in the Chrome help forum, and professionally was no stranger to QA..

Thanks DK, glad to see that it's fixed. I'll update the Help forum topic.

later, Larry
