I have the same issue on Windows 10 Version 51.0.2667.0 canary (64-bit). I think what the author means is that when clicking relaunch chrome closes and prompts for update again on next start instead of restarting and updating.

Please quit Chrome and verify that no chrome.exe processes are left behind. Does the problem persist even when you do this? Could you attach %TEMP%\chrome_installer.log for analysis?

This doesn't solve the problem.

Closing this out. The issue mentioned in comments 1, 3, and 4 are a dup of issue 592040 , which has long since been fixed. The original poster's issue is unrelated.

OP: Feel free to re-open if you experience this again and we'll do what we can to get to the bottom of the underlying issue. Thanks.
