Mixing inline and inline-block text in the same line results in dark selection blocks

Reported by jason.vo...@mathworks.com, Mar 2 2016

Issue description

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_10_5) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/48.0.2564.109 Safari/537.36

Example URL:
https://jsfiddle.net/ucdqp8v3/3/

Steps to reproduce the problem:
Create a page that has the following HTML:
<span style="display: inline-block;">First span</span> <span class="display: inline-block;">Second span</span>

See:
https://jsfiddle.net/ucdqp8v3/3/

Select/Highlight the rendered output.

Notice when selected the "space" between "First Span" and "Second Span" is darker than the other selection text.

What is the expected behavior?
I would expect the selection color to be the same throughout.

What went wrong?
When selected the "space" between "First Span" and "Second Span" is darker than the other selection text.

Does it occur on multiple sites: Yes

Whoops, I used class instead of "style" on the second span.

This shows the same issue. It looks like just having inline block and then inline is a problem:

<span style="display: inline-block;">First span</span> Second part

wkorman@, this looks like another example of the newline selection incorrectly inserted. I strongly suspect duplicate.
