Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_11_3) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/48.0.2564.116 Safari/537.36 Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. open any page written in Serbian Latin script, say http://hakaton.rs/ 2. Google Translate pops up offering you to translate it from Croatian What is the expected behavior? The expected behaviour is that Google Translate offers you to translate the page from Serbian. What went wrong? I appreciate that Serbian & Croatian are closely related and as recently as 24 years ago used to be classified as Serbocroat/Croatoserb. But the site is under: .rs TLD, so that might be a good clue as to what language it should try to offer translation for. Just in case that you're not following: .rs is the TLD for Serbia, whereas .hr is a TLD for Croatia. Serbian can be written in Serbian Cyrillic and Serbian Latin script. Croatian is only, officially at least, written in Latin script. The difference of written Serbian in Latin script and written Croatian is very similar. But if Chrome can't infer the language from the content, then at least it can use the TLD to help it set the default option e.g. for .rs offer default translation of Serbian and for .hr offer default translation of Croatian. Did this work before? No Chrome version: 48.0.2564.116 Channel: n/a OS Version: OS X 10.11.3 Flash Version: There is this issue also, but it's not very descriptive: https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=527700 I think that they are trying to say the same thing. But due to lack of details...

I get a popup offering to translate the page from Serbian in Chrome 48.0.2564.116 on OS X 10.11.3. I wonder if something on the server side of translation changed? Reporter, can you still reproduce this bug?

I can confirm that the problem is still there. I just used http://hakaton.rs/ site as an example. But the issue is not limited to that site. The problem is evident on any site whose content is in Serbian Latin script, regardless if it's under a generic domain such as .(net|com|org) or .rs.

Okay, I reproduced this. It does not reproduce in the translate bubble for me, but it does reproduce as follows: 1) Navigate to http://hakaton.rs/ 2) Right-click the page body 3) Click "Translate to English" The translate bubble then says "This page has been translated from Croatian to English". I need to follow up with the Translation team about this.

Hi Like I mentioned this before, this bug is present on other sites under .rs domain. I just used http://hakaton.rs as an example. Thank you for the update.

I'd also be really keen to hear what the Translation team had to say on Elly Jones finding in #6. Thanks

no text in http://hakaton.rs/, there are no way translate can detect the language. Mark it as WontFix
