I have tried creating new user profile, not succeed. Maybe my synced data is corrupted? Worry about losing some data if I reset it at chrome sync dashboard (https://www.google.com/settings/chrome/sync).

Tested on Ubuntu 14.04 using chrome latest stable M48-48.0.2564.116 by following steps mentioned in the above comment and observed no freezing in chrome while surfing multiple sites.

Could you please recheck this issue by creating a new profile. If your browser user profile is corrupted, you can create a new user profile by following steps mentioned in the below URL
https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/142059?hl=en

I hope that helps! Let us know if it doesn't.

Thanks!

Sorry, I've been switching to Windows 10 recently. Just now I've tried using Chrome on Ubuntu again. New profile creation doesn't help. Thanks for the reply.
