basic auth url does not work in a image source

Reported by, Jan 14 2016 Back to list

Issue description

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Ubuntu Chromium/37.0.2062.120 Chrome/37.0.2062.120 Safari/537.36

Example URL:

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. using a url with basic auth in a img tag src
<img id="cam" src="http://admin:admin@host/cgi/jpg/image.cgi">
2. open the page with the image on it

The use case here is a ip cam which should be embed on a dashboard so I need a way to create this basic auth without user interaction. (If I open the url standalone the basic auth gets cached and everything works as expected)

What is the expected behavior?
The basic auth is passed in the request for the image and the image is displayed.

What went wrong?
My educated guess here is that the basic auth is not passed with the request which results in a 401 status for the image.

Did this work before? N/A

Chrome version: 37.0.2062.120  Channel: stable
OS Version: Ubuntu 12.04.5 LTS
Flash Version:

Is similar to and I thought it should work again.
