OS X emoji are rendered too small on Retina displays

Reported by adam.ro...@gmail.com, Nov 4 2015

Issue description

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_11_1) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/46.0.2490.80 Safari/537.36

Example URL:
https://jsfiddle.net/7anofhzz/embedded/result/

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Go to https://jsfiddle.net/7anofhzz/embedded/result/ on a Retina display

What is the expected behavior?
The thumbs-up emoji should be similar in size/spacing to the letters around it.

What went wrong?
On Retina displays, the emoji is quite a bit smaller than the surrounding text and there's a gap to the right of the emoji before the next letter. On a non-Retina display the emoji renders at the correct size.

Does it occur on multiple sites: Yes

Is it a problem with a plugin? No

Did this work before? No

Does this work in other browsers? Yes

Chrome version: 46.0.2490.80 Channel: stable
OS Version: OS X 10.11.1
Flash Version: Shockwave Flash 19.0 r0

Able to reproduce this on the latest stable(46.0.2490.80) and on the last canary(48.0.2555.0) on Mac OS 10.10.5 Retina.

This has been behaving the same since chrome version:41.0.2248.0. On chrome builds prior to this didn't see any thumbs-up emoji at all. Considering the 'no emoji' as bad and 'smaller emoji' as good, bisected this to the below range.

Thank you!

This is somehow fixed in M49, but regressed for non-retina display (issue 596223).

Oh so tiny, so tiny. Tiny dancer emoji is so tiny on Chrome/Retina/OS X.

Version 56.0.2924.87 (64-bit)
This seems fixed to me.
I guess, it is still effecting centering emoji.
