Extension API for intercepting/modifying websockets
Reported by dschu...@gmail.com, May 14 2015 Back to list
Chrome Version : 43.0.2357.65 (Official Build) beta-m (64-bit)
OS Version: Windows 7

With the webRequest API (https://developer.chrome.com/extensions/webRequest) you can intercept, block, or modify http://, https://, ftp://, file://, or chrome-extension:// requests. It would be nice if you could do the same for ws:// and wss://.

I was trying to write a simple plugin to modify the user-agent string based on certain urls, however all ws:// and wss:// request I was unable to modify the user-agent string.
