&nbsp rendered as center dot "・" in some localization
Reported by irwan.ap...@gmail.com, Jan 26 2015 Back to list
Device name: Motorola Moto-G

From "Settings > About Chrome"
Application version: Chrome 40.0.2214.89
OS: Android 4.4.4; XT1033 Build/KXB21.14-L1.40

URLs (if applicable):
<!doctype html>
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xml:lang="ja" lang="ja">
<head><title>Test &nbsp;</title></head>
<body>
This&nbsp;is&nbsp;a&nbsp;non-breaking&nbsp;space.
</body>
</html>

Behavior in Android Browser (if applicable):
In the latest firefox, the nbsp is being rendered as normal space.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Create a test page with the above html snippet
2. Open the test page with the latest Chrome for Android
3.

Expected result:
nbsp should be rendered like normal space (i.e. invisible).
It should display:

This is a non-breaking space.

Actual result:
The nbsp are being rendered as a "・".
This is being displayed instead:

This・is・a・non-breaking・space.

A side note: the standard WebView (tested using a third-party Lightning Browser) is not affected by this bug.
