What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.Open bookmark manager on ubuntu 9.10
2.

What is the expected result?
It should show my list of bookmarks that show up in "Other Bookmarks"
dropdown.
What happens instead?
It is completely empty except of a search box.
I have lots of bookmarks. They just don't show up.
They are even synch-ed with google-docs. Which in turn syncs with the
Chrome beta.
Please provide any additional information below. Attach a screenshot if
possible.

This is also repeatable in Mac on first launch. 1. Clean Install , Importing default bookmarks from Safari. 2. Right click on the " News" folder , wait for all the pages to load . 3. A question: Is this another manifestation of issue 35793 ? Meaning, would this behaviour be expected if half the bookmark manager files weren't found and 404ed?

This is not repeatable on TOT Chromium 6.0.423.0 (Developer Build 48636) And No issues in Google Chrome 6.0.422.0 (Official Build 48573) dev There is a console message : 6/1/10 1:56:25 PM /Applications/Google Chrome.app/Contents/MacOS/Google Chrome[12688] stat on /Users/testing/Library/Application Support/Google/Chrome/Default/Bookmarks: No such file or directory

maybe some integration problems in extensions like Xmarks? I had this same problem on 7.0.517.17 (win7): while writing this comment I thought about xmarks, disabled it and then bookmarks manager came up working again, even after reenabling xmarks! :) is it pure magic? ^^'

I had this problem on Win7 Home Premium 64bit. Here's how I fixed it: 1) Close Chrome if it's open. 2) Navigate to the folder where the bookmark file is located: C:\Users\<your_username>\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default 3) Rename bookmark.bak to bookmark.older 4) Rename bookmark (no extension) to bookmark.old. 5) Open Chrome, this will generate a new empty bookmark file. 6) Close chrome. 7) Open the new bookmark (no extension) file with notepad. 8) Open Bookmark.old and copy & paste its contents into the new bookmark file. 9) Save and close the file and reopen Chrome, voila! Your bookmarks should be just as they were prior to the bookmark manager going blank.

I tried renaming and ultimately removing the existing copies of bookmark and bookmark.bak to no avail. I fear that the problem has been synchronized with my bookmarks in my Google account. I'm now using 8.0.552.0 dev.

I resolved this issue in Windows (at least temporarily) by updating Java to version 6 build 22 (from Version 6 Build 21). my fix is just move some bookmarks from one folder to another by dragging it from bookmark bar.or just create or delete any bookmark or folder.i have chrome 9 and also encounter this problem and this is my only fix.
