ctrl+click on buttons opens new tab without target
Reported by bugabu...@gmail.com, Apr 19 2010 Back to list
Chrome Version : 5.0.374.0 (44177) Ubuntu
URLs (if applicable) : ourdoings.com
Other browsers tested:
Add OK or FAIL after other browsers where you have tested this issue:
Safari 4:
  Firefox 3.x: works as expected
IE 7:
IE 8:

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. access ourdoings.com gallery edit page
2. open several images in new tabs
3. while doing ctrl+page down to change tabs, also click on the 'Apply'
button, without letting go 'ctrl' key.

What is the expected result?
for the 'Apply' action to happen on that page.

What happens instead?
a new blank tab opens

Holding 'ctrl' whilst clicking a link (buttons included) will open the link in a new tab.
The website in question does not function correctly due to coding under their control, not an issue with chrome.

I rather like that Chrome supports Ctrl+click buttons, it's rather nice. That said
there are bound to be glitches like this, since JS navigation of an invisible frame or
something may be misinterpreted as a page navigation and redirected to a new tab.
Could be what's happening here.

The page in question does not use any JavaScript.

I've been able to reproduce this same behavior on Status.Net sites, like identi.ca.
Not sure same bug, as it breaks session tokens.
