vBulletin with no dropdowns

Reported by superfox...@gmail.com, Sep 2 2008

Issue description

Product Version : 0.2.149.27 (1583)
Other browsers tested:
Add OK or FAIL after other browsers where you have tested this issue:
     Safari 3: FAIL
    Firefox 3: OK

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Log into a vBullletin powered message board
2. Notice how the stuff like Thread Tools are listed out at the bottom

What is the expected result?
They should be a javascript drop-down menu

What happens instead?
They get listed at the bottom instead.

Please provide any additional information below. Attach a screenshot if
possible.

I suspect this may be a WebKit issue since it also happens in Safari.

Working fine here with vB 3.6

looks like if javascript is disabled
Dropdowns work fine on my vBulletin forum at http://www.thegarrison.eu/forum

I also don't have drop-downs. I think this happens only for older vBulletin versions,
I have version 3.0.x

Also, the colours in the admin control panel are all messed up. They look fine in FF3
and IE7.

Can someone please post a URL to an older version of vBulletin that exhibits this
problem?

Here is an example, http://www.gryphonllc.com/forum/

See the "Quick Links" and "Search" drop down javascript in the menu bar work in
Firefox and Internet Explorer.

This is only an issue on older versions of vBulletin.
Thanks for the link, though I can't seem to reproduce these problems in 0.2.149.30.
I'm probably missing something. Can you post a screen shot?
On: Chrome (0.3.154.9)
The dropdown menus at: http://www.palit.biz/main/index.php?lang=en also don't work.

On other sites that use similar menus, the position where the dropdown menu appears
is offset, like at:
http://www.coolermaster.com/products/product.php?language=en&act=category&tbcate=1

On FF 3 and IE7 it works fine.

I can't reproduce the issue with http://www.gryphonllc.com/forum/

From comment# 7
----------------
Issue @ http://www.palit.biz/main/index.php?lang=en looks like Evangelism
In dmenu.js file, they are doing a browser check where they check for vendor as
Apple. So Chrome, takes a different path and renders it badly. Replacing "Apple" with
"Google" made it work fine.
Reduction: http://go/reductions/37/menu.html
js file can be found @ http://go/reductions/37/dmenu.js

Issue @ http://www.coolermaster.com/products/product.php?
language=en&act=category&tbcate=1 looks different and filed a separate issue(Issue
4680)

So, this bug will be tracking the issue with http://www.palit.biz/main/index.php?
lang=en

This issue occurs on the Gamebattle.com message boards.

Forum tools are listed at the bottom.

Clicking forum names do not show drop down.

When choosing any avatar the next page drop down does not work.

Chrome uses a more strict rendering agent then IE and Firefox so maybe it's invalid
HTML/XHTML causing the trouble?

I think this is solved! ( Issue 7847 was also about this). (Solved since 2.0.164.0)
