Add a keyboard shortcut to open the Back button menu (show the tab history)

Reported by, Dec 14 2013

Issue description

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Ubuntu Chromium/31.0.1650.63 Chrome/31.0.1650.63 Safari/537.36

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Open a new tab;
2. In that tab, navigate to another website (this will enable the Back button and its menu);
3. Find a keyboard shortcut to open the Back button menu (or some way to navigate through the current tab history using the keyboard).

What is the expected behavior?
There is no working keyboard shortcut for this.

What went wrong?
I found the following page by searching 'chromium keyboard shortcuts' on Google: . On this page there is a Shift+Alt+T shortcut which is said to move focus on the Back button if it is enabled, but on the system I am using (Ubuntu 13.10 x64) it does not do anything. If it would work, I could then press the Menu key (I am not sure how it is called) which opens the context menu of the focused UI element.

Did this work before? N/A

Chrome version: 31.0.1650.63  Channel: stable
OS Version: Ubuntu 13.10 x64
Flash Version: Shockwave Flash 11.2 r202

I also found this page: . It does not specify a keyboard shortcut that opens the Back button menu.

Not strictly a shortcut, but the following key sequence currently works (Chrome 35 on Trusty):

F10, Tab, Menu.

F10 activates the toolbar, with the menu button highlighted. Tab tabs over to the Back/Forward button, and the Menu (right-click) key opens the menu.
On my laptop I do not have a Menu key and I think I am not the only one in this situation. Does anyone know if Firefox has a shortcut for the Back button menu?
Firefox doesn't either. The feature request is

I blogged about how to workaround this issue on OSX by mapping a keyboard shortcut to a mouse click:

Pressing the Application Key (to the left of the right control key on most keyboards) or pressing shift+f10 while focus is on the Back button opens the menu. I just tested shift+f10 on Ubuntu. So I don't think there is any need for an additional shortcut key. Yes, you would have to navigate to the Back button first using f10 and tab, but that's true for many other UI interactions.
