The autotest output in our VMTests is huge, and it's hard to find the relevant bits. Consider, e.g., https://uberchromegw.corp.google.com/i/chromiumos.tryserver/builders/x86-generic-asan/builds/415/steps/VMTest%20%28attempt%201%29/logs/stdio.
What I really care about is the names of the tests that failed, and the summary of why each of those tests failed.
What I get is:
- 6044 lines of stuff I don't care about
- The lines I care about, but which are hard to read
- 60 more lines of stuff I don't care about
Since the stuff I care about is neither at the beginning, nor the end, I don't know where to find it.
Moreover, here's an example line of output that contains the information I need, but which is hard to read:
/tmp/cbuildbotO_qTIG/test_harness/all/SimpleTestVerify/1_autotest_tests/results-03-logging_AsanCrash [ FAILED ]
/tmp/cbuildbotO_qTIG/test_harness/all/SimpleTestVerify/1_autotest_tests/results-03-logging_AsanCrash ERROR: Unhandled OSError: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: '/home/.shadow'
The text is so wide, that I have to side-scroll to find what I need. But since I don't know, from
the visible text, that the lines contain information I need, I skip them entirely.
Maybe we could strip the directory name, and just give the basename? Then I'd see something
logging_AsanCrash [ FAILED ]
logging_AsanCrash ERROR: Unhandled OSError: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: '/home/.shadow'
