Double click handled incorrectly

Issue description

Chrome Version       : 4.0.249.30 (Official Build 33928) on Linux
URLs (if applicable) : http://www.quirksmode.org/js/events_mouse.html
Other browsers tested:
Add OK or FAIL after other browsers where you have tested this issue:
Safari 4:
  Firefox 3.x:OK
IE 7:
         IE 8:OK
Chrome on Windows: OK

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. go to that website: http://www.quirksmode.org/js/events_mouse.html
2. double-click on the "The event handlers are registered on this link." 
link in the example section
3. note the events registered


What is the expected result?

mousedown
mouseup
click
mousedown
mouseup
click
dblclick

What happens instead?

mousedown
mouseup
click
mousedown
mousedown <-- note the erroneous duplicate mousedown event
mouseup
click
dblclick
mousedown


Please provide any additional information below. Attach a screenshot if
possible.

This was tested on the Linux beta of google chrome. Chrome on windows 
handles this correctly.

This also occurs on double clicks of the middle and right mouse button.

This bug exactly duplicates the behavior of Firefox 0.8, but some old friends are not 
so nice to see come back again.
