ChromeFrame does not install on Windows XP without .net framework

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.2; WOW64; rv:20.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/20.0

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. go to http://src.chromium.org/viewvc/chrome/trunk/src/chrome_frame/cfinstall/examples/simple.html
2. click "Click here to install it now.", then click "agree"
3. Get error message (BUG1) - This content cannot be displayed in a frame To help protect the security of information you enter into this website, the publisher of this content does not allow it to be displayed in a frame.
   What you can try: Open this content in a new window  
4. Attempt to resolve the problem as suggested by clicking the link "Open this content in a new window"
5. Get error window ( BUG2 ):

What is the expected behavior?
ChromeFrame installs

What went wrong?
you get 2 errors instead

Did this work before? No 

Chrome version:   Channel: stable
OS Version: 5 (Windows XP)

works fine after .net framework installation (i.e. clickonce works)

AFAICT, .NET 4.5 won't install on XP anymore. Uh oh.
We have the same problem trying to install ChromeFrame using CFInstall.js on WinXP IE8. We can't guarantee visitors will have .NET framework installed.

Chrome Frame has been turned down and is no longer supported.
