In a <browser> tag, pressing tab inserts a Tab character into the text field

Project Member Reported by, Sep 16 2012

Issue description

Chrome Version : 23.0.1268.0 (Official Build 157042) canary
OS Version: OS X 10.6.8

Specifically, I encountered this issue when loading in a <browser> tag, clicking on the 'email' text field, then pressing tab to get to the password field.
Unable to reproduce this in Win 7 & MAC 10.7 using the latest canary - 23.0.1269.0 (Official Build 157074) canary

@jeremya .. Are u still having issue ? Please feel free to update the thread.

Yes, I'm still seeing this issue as of Canary r157929.

My test is:

- manifest.json -
  "manifest_version": 2,
  "name": "IRCCloud App",
  "version": "1.0",
  "app": {
    "background": {
      "scripts": ["main.js"]
  "permissions": [

- main.js - {'browser.html');

- browser.html -
<!DOCTYPE html>
<browser src="" width="640" height="480"></browser>

Does this issue still occur? The new browser tag implementation should now be enabled.
