Comment 74 by Deleted ...@, Aug 20 2012

I can't even get past logging in...what's the point in having a better internet application if I can't do everything or visit certain websites

Comment 75 by Deleted ...@, Aug 20 2012

Fix it AASAP! it gets more laggy and the shockwaves crash ALL THE TIME.

Comment 76 by, Aug 20 2012

I have this issue as well except the workaround as described here ( doesn't work because Chrome randomly decides to ignore my preferences and re-enable pepper flash without my approval.

How about you remove your buggy internal flash and use the system-wide flash like every single other browser on the planet and stop trying to be unique snowflakes that cause bugs for the majority of your users?

Or when you disable a plugin in chrome://plugins, NEVER RE-ENABLE IT AGAIN UNLESS I MANUALLY CHOOSE TO. This is s security risk if you're going to ignore user preferences and enable things with every update of the browser or just because you feel like it

Comment 77 by, Aug 20 2012

flash problem :o

Every time I try to pick a microphone for tinychat it crashes. PLEASE fix the problem :(

Comment 82 by, Aug 21 2012

when I try to cam up, it freezes the whole screen.

Comment 83 by, Aug 23 2012

Some of the crashes being reported should be fixed on canary (see

The chopiness issue is somehow related to the speex codec (setting microphone.codec = "nellymoser" causes the issue to disappear). Still investigating.

Comment 84 by, Aug 23 2012

This is great news to the ears of a guy who has based his whole business model on Chrome :D

We will update our code to use a different codec until we hear otherwise. Very happy to have a direction to follow -- great job, guys!

Comment 85 by Deleted ...@, Aug 23 2012

Comment 86 by, Aug 23 2012

We definitively confirmed the problem is related to the Speex codec in Pepper Flash. My development team has also determined that using the Nellymoser codec with a bitrate of 44 khz seems to work well both in PPAPI and NPAPI. We're prepping another test that adds the Enhanced Mic API to this combination and will post results here.

Comment 87 by, Aug 24 2012

Whenever I turn on the microphone throws

Comment 88 by, Aug 24 2012

Comment 89 by, Aug 24 2012

When removing Enhanced Mic and adding the following settings, and then trying real-time audio chat over NetStream, we get acoustic echo that makes our real-time audio/video chat application unusable. The echo happens regardless of the "Reduce Echo" Flash client setting.

microphone.codec = 'nellymoser';
        microphone.framesPerPacket = 1;
        microphone.rate = 22;

Changing the rate seems to make no difference.

So, our options today are:
1) Use Speex (with or without Enhanced Mic) and suffer from audio drops and lots of latency;
2) Switch to Nellymoser and cause acoustic echo to happen
3) Disable Pepper Flash

Comment 90 by, Aug 25 2012

 Issue 132030 has been merged into this issue.

verify the microphone and camera select and crash issue are fixed in Chrome 21.0.1180.87.

Comment 103 by Deleted ...@, Aug 30 2012

its a everyday problem #smh

Comment 104 by, Aug 30 2012

I tested audio issues with both Chrome Stable (21.0.1180.83) and with Chrome Canary (23.0.1247.1). Choppiness appears to be gone with Speex codec. Acoustic echo is still unresolved.

Same issue here... please fix. My entire chrome browser becomes unstable and my computer gets bogged down. 1 application running, 4g ram, dual core x64. Something's wrong here.

Comment 111 by Deleted ...@, Sep 1 2012

so bad!

Comment 112 by Deleted ...@, Sep 1 2012

I understand that you're trying to fix the problem, but this issue needs to be fixed ASAP. As you can see majority of us are suffering from the same issues. Every time we try to choose a microphone setting, our browsers crash and we have to restart our computers. I think that if you take away all the unnecessary additions it will work properly.

Status: Fixed
A Chrome 21 update (21.0.1180.87) has been pushed out with this fixed.

Comment 118 by, Sep 4 2012

This is still broken for me on Chrome 21.0.1180.89.

I see that gcswf32.dll is now version 11.4.402.265, but pepflashplayer.dll is still version Because Chrome has both pepflashplayer.dll and gcswf32.dll enabled by default, it prefers pepflashplayer.dll, and I get stuck using the old 11.3 version by default.

However, if I manually disable pepflashplayer.dll and force it to use the newer gcswf32.dll instead, the problem is fixed.

Comment 119 by, Sep 4 2012 is the correct version. You have to be more specific about what is broken. This bug specifically refers to chopiness in tinychat audio. If something else is broken, please file a new bug.

Comment 120 by, Sep 6 2012

TC lags a lot while trying to select the microphone. When chat finally loads, when im trying to type, backspace will delete the whole word instead of a single character.

Comment 121 by, Sep 6 2012

I will switch to Internet if you do not fix this. Very disappointing.

Comment 124 by, Sep 17 2012

Hi, according to your comments, this bug should be solved. But, I have version 21.0.1180.89 on XP, and using tinychat or any web application accessing the microphone normally produces a hang of the computer.
In fact, tinychat displays a large banner advising on it. Please, at least, let me know if you are aware of the problem.
Disabling PepperFlash plugin works fine. But this is not a solution when you are a developer.

Probably it was fixed at version 1180.87, and then entered again in 1180.89.
Thanks a lot.
