I've been having this problem for a few months now. It is intermittent. But when it happens, its horrible!

Over time - the browser just gets confused, and some pages (not all of them!) will simply not load. You click on a link, you see a flash of the page, and then the whole screen goes white! Trying new tabs, reloads, or anything else will not fix it. You have to completely kill the entire browser, and then you can load the page again.

As I write this, I can't load http://reader.google.com/ in Chrome. I know that if I restart this browser it will work. Each time I press reload, I see it for a half second, then it disappears and the screen goes white again.

I have this reproducing now, let me know if there are diagnostics you want me to run.

I know if I kill the browser it will be fixed; but then it will start happening again in a couple of days.

Selfishly marking as a P0, after all what is more important than browsers loading pages?

Same problem here.

Has been happening for a few months.

Restarting Chrome temporarily fixes the problem

Do you get the same gray-blue image as in issue 139499 ? This happened once to me, too. Restarted Chrome, and never happened to me since.

Same thing, starting about a week ago.

#2 - no, page just loads and then instantly goes blank (all white). Very strange. I've never seen this problem with any other browser.
#2 - no, same as what #4 said. Glad to hear I'm not the only one!

same issue here
mbelshe: Have you checked if the Javascript console still works when this happens? Or tried killing the affected renderer process and reloading the page, to see if that fixes the problem without restarting Chrome? My completely uneducated guess is it's some sort of graphics issue.

Been getting these for a while now, and I'm not sure when it started. Tonight, after yet another such "crash", I noticed that the page rendered fine until it suddenly went "blank" as I was scrolling down. After refreshing the page, I took note of when the screen flickered to blank and then viewed the source. It looked like the element that was causing it was an embedded showave/flash video, so I went poking around for a flash-based chrome crash, and came across http://www.simplehelp.net/2010/09/16/how-to-delete-your-flash-cache/ , which mentions using Adobe's "Settings Manager" to clear the flash cache, and directed the user to http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager07.html . When I went to that page, the screen immediately flickered to blank, so I tried the "inspect element" mode, at which time (surprisingly!) the page rendered properly, albeit in a smaller section of the screen. I was also able to communicate with the swf that is the Settings Manager, and when I tried to clear the cache (by performing a "Delete all sites" action), it mentioned that a script was running for a while and if I wanted to wait or stop.

Hope this helps someone else, possibly to even determine what might be going on here.

23.0.1241.0 canary
All web tabs are just white. Restarting the browser or the machine (macos 10.6.8) doesn't change it.
chrome:// pages and the inspector are normal. Page resources have loaded but aren't displayed.
I submitted "feedback" from a blank http://www.google.com (but if the confirmation page needed a response I didn't do it.)

21.0.1180.81 beta
Running at the same time is normal.

Looks like this has only been seen on Mac, please update if seen on another platform.

Possibly a dupe of issue 118149? ccing Ken as current owner of 118149.

This does sound like the same symptoms as Issue 118149 so I'm dup'ing this into the other bug.
