System-level Chrome shortcut remains on Quick launch bar on uninstall
Reported by sunandt@chromium.org, May 20 2009 Back to list
For system-level install, on uninstalling Chrome, quick launch shortcut gets
removed from the actual location but the icon still remains on the quick
launch bar. This doesn't happen for user-level Chrome. I'm not sure if this
is caching issue or something else. My concern is why this happens only for
system-level Chrome.

This happens on Win7 Admin account.

For such bugs can you please attach verbose logs from the uninstaller? It could be
simply a caching issue. Did you try rebooting?

IIRC these shortcuts exist in this location %APPDATA%\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick
Launch. Can you check if Chrome actually leaves this shortcut behind?
The shortcut gets removed from %APPDATA%\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch but
the icon still exists on Quick Launch bar.
This was happening for only system-level and user-level was fine.

I am going to call it a caching issue then. The icon should go away after a while.

Feel free to reopen if you disagree.
