No way to access history on Chrome for Android

Reported by, Feb 13 2012

Issue description

Chrome Version : (Beta)
URLs (if applicable) :
OS version : 4.0.2
Behavior in Android Browser (if applicable):

There is no way to access History on the Android version of Chrome. There is nothing in the menus, and even chrome://history fails to work.

For what it's worth, this is missing on both phone and tablet versions, but these are certainly the same "version".
Should be long press on back button like "browser" app. If long press back button could access bookmarks/history like browser that would work wonderfully.

I disagree, it should mimic the behavior of the desktop chrome browser. With an option for recently closed tabs on the new tab page, and a menu choice for full history. Perhaps only a link to the full history on the new tab page with closed tabs there instead.

Is no one else absolutely dumbfounded by an omission of this magnitude? This is ridiculous and makes the browser unusable for me.

Comment 5 by, Feb 18 2012

I've gone back to Dolphine browser, just because there is no history option in Chrome for android! This is kind of ridiculous.

Comment 6 by Deleted ...@, Mar 26 2012

Yes, this is a serious omission. Think google, like apple before them, are losing their way. Google+ is horrible and for pictures not a patch on picasa web albums. Also don't like the concept of signing into a browser!

I Am surprised there's not more logs of this issue. Even google search only points to pages about clearing a history I cannot bloody get to! Lol

Why include incognito mode when there is no history??
It seems that in today's release history is there if you go to chrome://history, although I don't see a History option within the menus.

That is correct - we now expose chrome://history as way to get to history but don't yet have a way to initiate it from the Tools menu.

While history is essential - and I'm glad to see it's not at least accessible - for all those complaining, this is a means that some features may not exist yet and bugs may be present. Chillax a little with the comments.

on the latest iOS build of Chrome, chrome://history does not seem to work.

Comment 18 by Deleted ...@, Jul 4 2012

Running it here on ICS 4.0.3 on my Transformer. I can access the history through chrome://history, but the option to clear it doesn't seem to work. If I tap that option, it takes me to a blank settings screen. when I restart Chrome, I still see the history. We're making progress and yes, I agree with GDHus.. this IS beta, and I for one am glad to have it, a few bugs and all. Thanks

chrome;//history is the recommended way to get to history currently on Chrome for Android. This is not yet supported on Chrome for iOS but is being tracked separately.

We are also exploring other ways to provide access to history but given we have a way to access history currently, marking this issue fixed

Type "chrome://history/" in the address bar

Comment 22 by Deleted ...@, Jul 18 2012

No menu button on my Chrome for Android either, renders it unusable

Comment 23 by Deleted ...@, Jul 29 2012

Chrome://history allows you to see the history and I can remove individual items but I cannot wipe the entire history.
chrome://history does not allow one to delete history in android [jb]
chrome://history also has options to "Clear all browsing data" and "Remove selected items" (checkboxes for each item are onhover as on desktop but don't show up till selected).

Comment 26 by Deleted ...@, Aug 1 2012

Rick: there's an option to clear browsing data in Settings>Privacy

Comment 27 by Deleted ...@, Aug 1 2012

Yorky: If you don't have a hardware menu button, your ROM should have on-screen buttons already implemented.

Comment 28 by Deleted ...@, Aug 5 2012

Guys just access the page mentioned and save it in your bookmarks. Simple then you can use that as a way to enter your history. Simple

Comment 29 by Deleted ...@, Aug 8 2012

Thanks #9 I set up my history as a bookmark
