There's no flash plugin installed with my Google Chrome installation on linux. The same appears to be true for beta and stable channel.

No bueno.

Did we change something in release or packaging scripts?

I'm guessing QA tests from zip files and not by installing packages from our repo. QA hasn't noted this, so I'd guess it's a packaging issue.

James, is there no flash listed under chrome://plugins? No libgcflashplayer.so in your chrome app directory tree?
Comment 2 by jam...@chromium.org, Dec 22 2011
chrome://plugins only shows the system flash(es):

/home/jamesr/.mozilla/plugins/libflashplayer.so
/var/lib/flashplugin-installer/npwrapper.libflashplayer.so

$ ls /opt/google/chrome/*.so
/opt/google/chrome/libffmpegsumo.so /opt/google/chrome/libpdf.so /opt/google/chrome/libppGoogleNaClPluginChrome.so

I don't have a libgcflashplayer.so anywhere on my system, as far as I can tell. Synaptic package manager says that google-chrome-unstable doesn't provide this file.

Is this 64-bit linux?
Comment 4 by jam...@chromium.org, Dec 22 2011
Yes
Comment 5 by jsc...@chromium.org, Dec 22 2011
Now that I think about it, have we ever shipped a 64-bit Flash on Linux? I was under the impression we didn't even have one.

Correct, we only bundle 32-bit flash.
Comment 7 by corv...@gmail.com, Mar 31 2012
I am running 64-bit Chrome on Linux and the Flash plugin was previously bundled. My Chrome is up to date but all the other files in the /opt/google/chrome directory date from March 26, while libgcflashplayer.so dates from January 19. I recently installed Chrome on another 64-bit system and the plugin was not included.
Comment 8 by vkr...@gmail.com, May 12 2012
Is there an actual technical reason for not including the flash plugin with 64-bit chrome versions?
Comment 9 by jam...@chromium.org, May 12 2012
My understanding is it doesn't work
Comment 10 by vkr...@gmail.com, Jun 27 2012
Just updated to 64-bit Google Chrome 20.0.1132.43 on openSUSE 12.1 for x86_64, and the perpper flash plugin is included and works just fine.

file /opt/google/chrome/PepperFlash/libpepflashplayer.so
/opt/google/chrome/PepperFlash/libpepflashplayer.so: ELF 64-bit LSB shared object, x86-64, version 1 (SYSV), dynamically linked, BuildID[sha1]=0x64ae487c78111d63003ddccc9783dca5f65767dd, stripped

ps -ef | grep ppapi

Thanks!
