sending a bunch of CSS bugs your way, please just remove yourself as owner if it's not CSS.
Seems to work in latest stable. 17.0.963.46
Bug still exists with Chromium 17.0.963.56 (Developer Build 0 Linux)

Similiar bug, most likely related to an attempted fix at this:
position: absolute;
top: 15px;
left: 45px;
display: table;
text-align: center;
vertical-align: middle;
width: 100px;
height: 100px;
background: no-repeat RGBA(0, 0, 0, 0.9);
border-radius: 50px;
padding-top: 28px;
box-sizing: border-box;
should create a 100x100px box, but creates a 100x72px box instead.

The original test cases by tomekfijol work as expected for me. Does anyone have a test case with a failure they can repro in current Chrome?

No, but the issue I reported in comment #9 still exists.

The fiddle in comment #15 works correctly for me (40.0.2214.111 (Official Build) m, Windows).

I'm going to close this bug.
